Cado’s story
Cado was the daughter of a stray who showed up on a couples’ doorstep in Texas, however they could not care for her or her sister Rollie. They didn’t want to give the two to a shelter because most shelters in Texas only give dogs three days to get adopted, after which they are put down. This is because Texas and other southern states have such a large dog population. A study in 2016 showed that there were 8,700 strays, and that was just in Dallas alone. So we drove down to Texas to pick the two sisters up. Cado’s sister Rollie got adopted in November 2023, and Cado has become an invaluable part of the family, after having been trained to be a service dog. Cado is as smart as they come, picking up new tasks easily. But she’s not all business! She never fails to make us laugh with her goofy personalty.
