Fire Dragon

Fire Dragon had a rough start in life. She was born up against a live electric fence. Now, it wasn’t on a very strong setting, it was just enough to deter sheep from escaping the pasture, but unfortunately, it also deterred Fire Dragon’s mom. We assume at least once her poor mother would come to lick her daughter and got shocked. So her mother abandoned her, poor Fire Dragon was just left there getting colder and colder in the winter wind. We did find her during a routine night check for lambs and got her out of the wind. We did try to reunite her with mom before we cleaned her off, but her mom wouldn’t have anything to do with her. So we had to raise her ourselves. She got to be really good friends with her “siblings” that had also been abandoned that year: Spirit, Chester, and Cottontail. Today Fire Dragon is a happy healthy sheep who loves following her caretakers around to see if they have food for her.

Fire Dragon became the reason we ended up switching out the electric fence for wrapped wire fencing. Seems she was pretty much immune tothe electrical shock and wondered out of the fence often!
